Bail and Bondsman

If a person is accused of a crime in Oregon, he can be allowed temporary release from jail through personal recognizance, conditional release, or bail.

If bail is required, the total amount will be determined by the judge based on the individual’ criminal history, the severity of the crime, and his ties to the community. Because of the different factors involved, the amount of bail will vary. A drug possession charge may get a bail amount of $10,000 while an individual accused of a sex crime may be required to pay $75,000.

A defendant may be allowed to lodge 10% of the bail amount as collateral, guaranteeing his appearance in court when the trial starts. This deposit is called security.

If the defendant fails to appear as promised, a bounty hunter cannot get involved. The state of Oregon is one of four states in the US that has made commercial bail bonding illegal. It will be the justice department’s responsibility to apprehend the fugitive.

  1. Samuel Jonathan Colberg says:

so i would like to say that for the brief time i was held in the facility. it was an unbelievably disgusting place in which i, or any other human of any caliber, or having a capacity for any amount of dignity, as it is so often offered as the offended party in a myriad, if not all court cases that are brought before the court these days; would not have housed a dog in such deplorable circumstance. The honor, and indeed, dignity, of any state, county, or municipality, that would act toward any human of any level of depravity in such a sloven and despicable display of filth and simultaneous disregard of basic health standards a five year old is capable of displaying almost from its instinct alone, is non existent. and any party that sanctions such incompetence has no dignity with witch to be offended. The patrol vehicle which was allegedly damaged in the course of my unnecessary and tactless assault and confinement was as well a complete and total filthy mess that would not be worthy of the value a scrap yard would have offered for its crushing, there is no tax payer that would willingly accept the extent of their deprivation of earnings was misused to the extent that such a travesty of conveyance could be considered a reasonable and well cared for tool their money had afforded. such display and willing disregard for any basic standards a “dignified” actor like AN officer OF THE PEOPLES demonstrates a total lack of respect and indeed common sense which undermines the very authority with which such officers are afforded to carry out their duties. basic standards are requirements of any body that seeks to draw offense for its dignity. that dignity would certainly be reliant on minimum health conscious capacities regarding the property and tools it uses to carry out its accusatory duties. Not even a minimum standard could have been claimed with regard to the property in which those acts with which claim of a betterment of the public welfare was being carried out at the time those actions were indeed carried out against my person. in other words their was no public service that could have been carried out with those tools, and not been entirely in the public’s disservice.. Again the Jail and what was quite apparently every square inch of property that was maintained or utilized by the deputies and i hope not the sheriff but i cannot see how he wouldn’t be aware of such filth. WAS DISGUSTING AND SHAMEFUL AND INDEED THE MOST EGREGIOUS OF OFFENSES AGAINST THE STATE OF OREGON’S DIGNITY FAR MORE SO THAN ANY NUMBER OF “CRIMES” SO OFTEN SITED TO CONFINE PARTIES IN SUCH INHUMANE AND UNHEALTHY QUARTERS. A FILTHY PLACE OPERATED BY THE MOST SLOVENLY AND UNPROFESSIONAL OVERWEIGHT AND COMPLETELY DISGUSTING EXAMPLES OF THE HUMAN SPECIES. A LOT OF PIGS WOULD BE BETTER CLEANER AND MORE PROFESSIONAL AND I AM CERTAIN MUCH MORE EFFECTIVE WITH THE DISPENSING OF THE PUBLIC PURSE TO MUCH GREATER BENEFIT THEN THE INCOMPETENCE I WITNESSED.
