Important Jail Policies and Procedures:
Inmates at the Barry County Jail are allowed non-contact visitation. Visits are limited to one 30-minute session per week. These are offered on a first come, first serve basis. Visitors must arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of the visit. All visitors are required to present identification upon signing in. Anyone under 17 years of age must be with a parent or guardian. Each inmate is only allowed to have 2 visitors at a time. All visitors must be dressed appropriately; individuals wearing sexually suggestive or revealing clothes will be denied.

A Corrections Deputy in Barry County is offered a starting wage of $17.69 per hour. This full-time position requires an individual to work 12-hour shifts which may be scheduled any day of the week and any shift. Part of the duties of a Corrections Deputy includes preparing written reports, accurately counting inmates under his/her supervision, monitoring recreational activities and inmate visits, and operating the facility’s security systems.
To become a Corrections Deputy, an individual must be 21 years of age, a high school diploma (or GED), have a valid Michigan’s driver’s license, and no felony convictions.

Bail and Bondsman
