Young County Information
As of the 2010 census, the county’s population was 18,550 and the county seat is located in Graham, which is also the largest city in the county. The county was established in 1856 and named for an early Texas settler and soldier, William Cocke Young. The county is 931 square miles in total area and may be best known for its oil production which kicked off the 20th century. Petroleum production began in 1920 and boom towns sprang up around the county. By 1990, 3,431,000 barrels had been produced.
