Sex Offender Search and Lookup:

According to federal law, sex offenders must present their information to local law enforcement to be recorded in the state sex offender registry and the national sex offender database. The purpose of these systems is to keep track of the movements of sex offenders in order to increase public safety and awareness. A sex offender is defined as a person with a conviction for a sex offense such as rape, prostitution, and child pornography. Anyone who wants to locate sex offenders living in Davison County can search the South Dakota Sex Offender Registry. Bear in mind that there may be records in the database that are no longer current, only showing last known addresses. This is because not all offenders obey the registration law.

Bail and Bondsman

A pretrial inmate is released from jail if bail is paid. Bail is the money that will be usd by the court to guarantee the defendant’s appearance at his trial. The money will be returned after the trial minus some court fees. However, failure to appear means forfeiting the money.

A defendant who cannot afford bail can hire a bondsman to act as a surety. The bondsman typically charges 10% of the bail amount. This fee cannot be refunded.
