Bedford county was established in 1771 and named for Fort Bedford.  The county seat is Bedford, PA.  The Bedford Springs Hotel was considered the summer White House under POTUS, James Buchanan.  And a meeting of the US Supreme Court was also held at the hotel once and it was the only time the court convened outside of our capital.
