Services and Responsibilities:

The McKean County Court Administrator’s responsibilities include all civil and criminal cases, small claims, landlord/tenant disputes, driving violations, non-traffic violations, criminal offences bound to Common Pleas Court. Services and Responsibilities:

The Office of the Recorder of Deeds is responsible for recording, protecting, preserving, and reproducing or providing legal documents that are related to real estate in McKean County. The Recorder of Deeds Office provides services such Deeds Easement, Right of Way, Covenant, Restrictions, Satisfaction of Mortgage, Release, Assignment, Modification, Subordination, State Commissions and Bonds for Notary Publics and County Elected Officials, Military Discharge Papers (DD214), Basic assistance and instruction on the use of office indexes and equipment, Photocopies of office records upon request for a fee and so on. The Register of Wills and Clerk of Orphan’s Court office is responsible for services such as probate proceedings, inheritance tax payments, preparing and issuing marriage licenses, assisting in genealogy requests and research, record Orphans’ Court proceedings, and filing of required adoption and guardian documents. Besides, the Office of Register of Wills and Clerk of Orphan’s Court also take responsibilities for issuing certificates of appointment, probate fees collections, issues receipts and files inventories of probate assets, acts as a collection agent for inheritance taxes for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as well as issues appropriate inheritance tax payment receipts and transmits to the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, Prepares county reports monthly, disburses monies to the county treasurer and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, issues checks, bank statement reconciliations, collection and accounting of all funds received by the office as well as files and records Orphans’ Court proceedings.
