Individuals who wish to search for sex offenders in their area can use either database.

Sex offenders, as defined by law, are individuals who have been found guilty of a sex crime such as rape, sexual assault, child pornography, statutory rape, and incest. The definition of sex crimes under the law varies in every state. Some crimes that are not sexual in nature such as indecent exposure and public urination have classified the offender as a “sexual offender” and as such, is required to be listed in the registry.
