Sex Offender Search and Lookup:
Federal law mandates that all sex offenders need to give their information to local law enforcement to be entered into the state sex offender registry and the national sex offender database. Sex offenders are people who have a conviction for a sex offense such as rape, prostitution, and child pornography. A person can access information about sex offenders residing in Schuyler County by searching the New York State Sex Offender Registry. Keep in mind that you may get records that only show last known addresses. This is because not all offenders comply with the registration law.
Bail and Bail Bond Agent:
Bail is set for a pretrial inmate by the court as payment for getting released from jail while the trial is still pending. It will be used to ensure that the defendant returns to court once the trial begins. The bail is refunded minus a 3% administrative fee after the trial ends. If the defendant misses a court appearance, then he forfeits the bail and a warrant will be issued for the arrest of the defendant. If the bail cannot be posted, then the defendant will have to remain in custody until the trial is done or he is released.
The New York courts require individuals to make the exact payment for bail because they will not give any change. They do, however, accept more than one type of payment per transaction if it is necessary. The forms of payment accepted by the courts are as follows:
A bond agent can be paid to post bail on behalf of a defendant. The fee for his services is non-refundable. Because the New York State Insurance Department regulates bond agents, their fees have been placed in a tiered system. You can easily calculate the fee that a bond agent will charge based on the bail amount.
The fee for a bond of $200 or less is $10.
The fee for a bond of $3000 or less is 10% of the bail.
The fee for a bond of $3001 to $10000 is 10% of $3000 and 8% of the remaining account.
The fee for a bond more than $10000 is 10% of $3000, 8% of the amount between $3000 and $10000, and 6% of the remaining amount.
For example, the bond fee for a $150000 bail is $1160. The calculation is (10% x $3000) + (8% x $7000) + (6% x $5000).
