A sex offender is a person who has a conviction for a sexually oriented crime such as prostitution, rape, and child pornography. You can view information on the sex offenders in Union County by visiting the Sheriff’s Alert page. Please keep in mind that some offenders may not comply with the registration law. Some search results that appear may only contain last known addresses of offenders.

Bail and Bondsman

A pretrial inmate is granted temporary release from custody as long as he gets a low score on the risk assessment tool. This is an algorithm that determines the inmate’s actions if he is let out from jail using the information gathered on the inmate including his criminal history. A low score means he will not harm the community or fail to appear in court so he may be released from jail. Monitoring may be recommended. A high score, on the other hand, means that there is a big chance the defendant will commit another crime and/or is a flight risk.
