Visiting schedules are posted in the housing units and are available in the lobby for visitors.
An inmate can deny access to a visitor by leaving a written notice in advance with the Visits Officers that they do not wish a visit from a particular individual.
Visitor must provide positive identification by verifying their name, address, phone number, age, date of birth, driver’s license number (if available), type of vehicle he or she owns, and his or her relationship to the inmate. A driver’s license, ID from welfare including a current utility bill, a passport, military ID, governmental agency ID (including “green cards”), or a Massachusetts non-drivers registry ID.
A maximum of two adults and two children under the age of 18 may visit an inmate at any one time.
Visitors must be 18 years or older or be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A birth certificate (must be presented prior to entrance of the minor). Minors will only be allowed to visit their parent, step-parent, grandparent, legal guardian or sibling.
Special visits are granted in cases of extreme hardship or extenuating circumstances. All requests for special visits are made to the Security Department.

Sex Offender Search and Lookup
All registered sex offenders are registered on either a national or state sex offender database. The people on these databases have been convicted of a sex or kidnapping crime. The definition of a sex offender is a person convicted of a crime involving sex, including rape, molestation, and production or distribution of child pornography.
You can access this information online for Essex County by going to this link, but bear in mind that searches sometimes reveal primary last known addresses or, rather the block that they live on. You are also required to accept a disclosure to use the database.
Bail and Bail Bondsman
Massachusetts is one of 8 states that does not allow private commercial bail bonding. The remaining are Maine, Oregon, Illinois, Kentucky, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Washington, D.C. When no other funding options are available to you, you may have to spend the time between hearing and trial in jail. Remaining in jail is at no cost to you, but if you are innocent it can be a traumatic experience you probably want to avoid. To avoid jail time, there are still options in states like Massachusetts.
A signature bond is a way for friends and family to take responsibility for you completing all your court responsibilities. Essentially a signature bond is a legal agreement, or promissory, that the defendant presents him or herself at court. So you need to present yourself or everyone on the signature bond agreement is held accountable. Ask your lawyer for more information.
