A sex offender is a person who has been convicted of a sexually oriented offense such as rape, molestation, and prostitution. Anyone can use this site to locate any sex offenders living in Woodford County. However, keep in mind that you may encounter home addresses of offenders that are no longer current or those that only show the block where an offender resides. This is due to the fact that some offenders may not comply with the registration law.

Bail and Bondsman

The court can grant its permission to let an accused person stay out of jail while he waits for his trial to begin with the understanding that he will be present at all his court dates. This is called bail. For some offenders, bail may also include the promise or deposit of money or property to the court as further assurance that the accused will be at his trial. Missing a scheduled court appearance will mean the loss of the money or property pledged to the court.

For a non-refundable fee equal to 10% of the bail amount, a bondsman can act as a surety on behalf of a defendant who is unable to come up with the money on his own. A surety is a person who will take responsibility for paying the entire bail amount if the accused misses a court date.

In the state of Kentucky, commercial bail bond companies have been banned. Ky. Stat. § 431.510 (outlawing commercial bail bond industry); see Stephens v. Bonding Assoc. of Kentucky, 538 S.W.2d 580 (Ky 1976) (upholding statute). A bondsman operating from another state can only apprehend a fugitive who has fled to Kentucky if he has a warrant. Ky. Rev. Stat. § 440.270.
