Important Jail Policies and Procedures:

Inmates at the Porter County Jail are allowed to visit family and friends via video. Visitation can be done onsite or remotely. To schedule a visit with an inmate, you can use the kiosk in the facility lobby or go online at www.gettingout.com. Visiting times will vary throughout the facility, depending on the classification and housing unit of the inmate. Inmates will be responsible for informing their visitors of their allowed visit times.

Bail and Bondsman

Bail is the money pledged to the court by a defendant in order to be granted a “get-out-of-jail-free” card while the trial is still pending. This will be used by the court to help ensure the defendant’s return once the trial starts. If the defendant misses a scheduled court appearance, the court gets to keep the money.
