Important Jail Policies and Procedures
Dawson County Detention Center only allows on-site video visitation. Visitors above 18 years of age must show valid photo ID before visitation. Any visitors less than 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian. Each inmate is assigned two visitations per week. Each visit is limited to 30 minutes. Any kind unruly or foul behavior is strictly prohibited in the visitation lobby. Electronic devices including mobile phones are not permitted at the visitation booths. Visitors wearing revealing or inappropriate clothing will be allowed to visit. No more than three visitors per inmate are permitted at the visitation booth at one time. All visits will be recorded and monitored.

Sending Funds To Inmates
Family and friends may add money to an inmate’s account by dropping a money order in the designated lockbox of the facility. Money can also be deposited by using the jail’s Kiosk, or by calling at 1-866-345-1884. Visitors can also add money to an inmate’s account online by visiting Access Corrections website.
Sex Offender Search and Lookup
Any person convicted of sex-related crimes such as rape, prostitution, sexual assault, child pornography, sex trafficking, and sexual abuse is a sex offender. Sex offenders are required to get registered with the state or county’s sex offender register. Those who don’t register with the state may be charged with a felony.
Bail and Bondsman
BONDING- All bonds will incur a State Fee of $200.00 or 20%, whichever is less. All bonds require a cash bond fee of $20.00. There are three ways to post an inmate’s bond.
Cash – a cash bond requires 100% of the bond plus the above fees be paid in cash funds to the Detention Center. In turn, the money is paid to the court as “Guarantor” that the accused will make his/her court appearances.
Bonding Company – Please call or visit the Law Enforcement Center for an up to date list of approved bonding companies. Per Georgia Law, staff is not permitted to make a recommendation.
Property Bond – Please call or visit the Law Enforcement Center for a complete list of required documents and fees if you have personal property you would like to use as collateral on a bond.
