Tulare County Information
The population of the county is 442,179 according to what the census gathered in 2010. The county is named after Tulare Lake and was once the largest freshwater lake that is on the west part of the Great Lakes. The county was founded in 1852 and it is on the western part of the former larger Tulare County. The county seat is Visalia. Sequoia National Park is located in the county, as well as portions of Kings Canyon National Park (which is shared with Fresno County). Mount Whitney on the eastern side of the county is shared with Inyo County. The county office is handling departments that take care of its citizens. These departments are probation, emergency management, attorney, assessor, and Sheriff’s office.
